I am a huge fan of outdoor lifestyle family sessions and I love doing them at Boundary Creek park in Moorestown, New Jersey. There are so many gorgeous spots there, with lots of tall grass and beautiful golden sunlight. It never disappoints for us photographers!

I had worked with Herndon family a few times prior to this session, as I did their In Home Lifestyle newborn session with their little girl and I had also done a previous family session with them. They are such an adorable family and also just the sweetest people. It is hard not to get a gorgeous session out of them.

I really love the backdrop of the tall grass at Boundary Creek park. It gives such a calming and serene feel to these family sessions. And, the amazing golden light that shines through the trees makes for a glowy backlight that is just delicious on your subject. Pair that with some snuggles and squishes and voila, you have a picture perfect session!

Of course, their daughter is the star of the show and she knows it! I mean, c’mon, just look at that big smile. She loves the camera and clearly, the camera loves her too. I really love getting these close up, tight shots of little ones with mom and dad on either side. You can really FEEL the love that is happening in this image when you look at it.

Gahhhh. I really adore this black and white image of mama and her babe. It is classic and timeless and will always be a cherishes memory for many years to come. Hoping that mom framed this one in their home somewhere!!

golden hour family photo session

Here’s more of that beautiful scenery and that perfect amount of golden light shining in the background. As a lifestyle photographer, I love posing my subject in the most natural way possible, so that it doesn’t quite look posed. I always guide my clients but then let them candidly play out the rest, so that it looks and feels uniquely organic to them.

And, honestly, most little ones have a mind of their own, so I typically just let them do their thing during the session. I find it to be so much more captivating to just snap away while they are their mischievous little selves! It really captures their individual personalities, which is to me is so much more beautiful than just smiling into the camera for each frame.
